Premier-View King Room

Hotel at a Glance: Omni Shoreham Hotel

There’s history in the walls of the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Built in 1930, the glittering complex at the edge of Washington, DC’s Adams-Morgan neighborhood played host to some of the 20th century’s most notable celebrities and events; the Beatles stayed here, and the hotel’s ballroom has hosted Presidential inaugural balls for leaders ranging from FDR to Barack Obama. The hotel’s guest rooms reflect this august past, treating guests to granite-topped wet bars, capital-inspired artwork, and other furnishings befitting a head of state.

  • Eat well: The hotel features restaurant and lounge; take in views of Rock Creek National Park during an adventurous culinary excursion at Robert’s Restaurant or sip a lemon drop at Marquee Bar and Lounge just off the main lobby. You can also grab coffee and pastries at Morsel’s, the on-site coffee shop.
  • Work out at the 24-hour fitness center, which features equipment ranging from ellipticals and recumbent bikes to free weights and weight machines.
  • Notable awards: This hotel received the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2016.

Adams Morgan, Washington, DC: Multicultural Playground in Nation’s Capital

The playfully risqué mural for local haunt Madam’s Organ—a tattooed woman with flowing red hair set across two buildings—unofficially welcomes visitors to DC’s Adams Morgan neighborhood, a popular dining and nightlife destination with a bohemian attitude. A stroll down 18th Street reveals Latin American art galleries, European-influenced bistros, and raucous karaoke bars, as well as restaurants hawking late-night food staples including piping hot empanadas and the city’s trademark jumbo slices of pizza.

A few Metro stops to the southeast, the National Mall draws about 24 million visitors each year. With the Washington Monument in its center, the Mall spreads from the Lincoln Memorial at its western edge to the U.S. Capitol building in the east. Open every day of the year except December 25, The Smithsonian’s 19 museums and galleries boasts 137 million objects and artworks in their collections, from the Hope Diamond at the National Museum of Natural History to the Apollo 11 command module at the National Air and Space Museum. Also close is the Smithsonian National Zoo–a perennial favorite for families.
